about the vlb indigo foundation
The VLB Indigo Foundation was founded in January 2019 in memory of and to honor my soulful, talented, beautiful and creative daughter, Victoria Lynn Bachmann, who lost her battle with addiction on December 1, 2018 at the young age of 24.
Victoria considered herself to be an ‘indigo child’ as many of the characteristics are fitting, i.e., extremely creative, possesses soulful eyes, expresses anger outwardly, non-conformist, frustrated by rituals that require little creativity, difficulty with discipline, authority and patience, spiritually intelligent, knows they belong in this world until they are told otherwise, and believe they are here to change the world!
Ironically, my headstrong girl was told “otherwise” and was called “home”. Despite my heartache and that of many others, she will indeed change a small piece of the world through this non-profit foundation. The main purpose of the foundation is to assist recovering addicts wishing to pursue a career in the Arts by providing a $500 scholarship to be applied towards furthering their education.
Unfortunately, I am very familiar with the particulars of rehab facilities and how insurance companies often dictate length of stays. Therefore, a sober living environment after rehab is crucial but bed space is often limited and sometimes comes at a cost. For that reason, a supplementary purpose of the foundation is to provide funding (up to $250) to secure a bed in a reputable sober living home.
